When you get a wound several things start to happen.
-
First, hopefully your blood clots and so
-
that stops you from dying from loss of blood there,
-
but your body tries to heal this wound that's created.
-
One of the first steps in that healing is that
-
fibroblasts like this cell crawl into the space
-
that's created by the wound
-
and they grab a hold of both sides of the wound
-
and contract and try to pull it together.
-
To do that they have to be able to stretch out
-
and they have to be able to pull.
